Dental Care & Dental Surgery

Does your pet have bad breath?

You might think it’s normal for pets to have smelly breath, but it’s not.

Did you know that oral and dental disease is one of the most common medical conditions affecting companion animals? As a pet parent, you can have a significantly positive impact on your pet’s quality of life by helping them to keep their mouth healthy.

How?

The most impactful thing you can do at home is brush your pet’s teeth daily. Yep, that’s right. Pets benefit from daily brushing just the same way that you do. But we know that brushing a dog’s or cat’s teeth isn’t quite as simple as brushing your own!

We’re here to help.

Regular check ups at the vet are vital. We can talk you through tips and tricks for teeth brushing, or if it’s just not something you can make happen at home, we can help ensure your pet’s teeth are regularly examined and your pet is booked in for a teeth clean and dental check at least once per year so we can keep on top of their oral health.

Unfortunately, it’s not possible to ask a dog or cat to lie back, relax and open their mouth while we do potentially uncomfortable things in and around their teeth and gums, so a general anaesthetic is required in order to scale and polish the teeth and to take x-rays to ensure we can see anything happening under the gum line. Sometimes surgical extractions may be required.

There are also dental specific diets, products, toys and chews to help you manage your pet’s oral health. We’re so serious about pet dental health that we’ll book you in for a FREE dental check so we can help you decide on the best oral health plan for you and your best mate.
